As part of a luxury India trip, I highly recommend Vivanta by Taj Madikeri in Coorg, Kanartaka in South India for relaxation and bliss. The location and property is spectacular. This property is situated in a beautiful, idyllic spot in the Western Ghats on a hillside 4000 feet above sea level spread across 180 acres of rainforest with more than 300 species of flora. Cuisine, activities, Jiwa spa and service are all excellent. I found this an extremely well-run property, great for honeymooners, couples, families and single people.
The property offers 62 contemporary rooms and villas (Superior Charm Rooms, Deluxe Delight Rooms, Premium Indulgence Rooms and Luxury Bliss Villas) and a Nirvana Presidential Suite. Every room and villa has a lovely view of the landscape, and the rooms are spacious and well designed. The lobby area dramatically opens to the outside with stunning views of the Western Ghats. I was told that during monsoon, the clouds actually come into the reception area. Since the property is quite large, staff-driven golf carts are available for transportation, and the wait to be picked up is short.

The Ferntree, which has all-day dining, Nellaki, the Coorg, a specialty restaurant, the Grill, which is next to the pool and the Dew, the wellness café, all offer delicious food with excellent service.
The Jiwa spa is beautiful and calming. Each treatment room has a view of the outside. There are Ayurvedic, local Coorg and western treatments.
Activities include hikes each day led by well-trained naturalists, a pottery center with a wheel to make one’s own pottery, indoor and outdoor pool and a fitness center.
